Hey, parents and teachers! Did you know the TurfMutt Foundation has lesson plans for kids in grades K-8 that you can download for school or at-home learning? Check out TurfMutt’s full library of educational resources here.

Stormwater Sleuthing is a lesson for kids in grades 6-8. The objective is for students to use rain gauges to measure how much water falls in a grassy area and a hard surface like a parking lot. Then, they calculate how much water run-off occurs in each area.

The lesson, like all TurfMutt lesson plans, is aligned to STEM standards. It helps students apply scientific principles to design a method for monitoring and minimizing human impact on the environment.
