Celebrating Mutt Madness Brothers for National Siblings Day

Thursday, April 10 is National Siblings Day, a perfect opportunity to check in on some siblings that have been adopted at Mulligan’s Mutt Madness over the years. The TurfMutt Foundation hosts the national pet adoption event in collaboration with Kentucky Humane Society (KHS). To date, Mutt Madness has matched over 70 dogs with their humans. These include two sets of siblings – Sonny and Chunky from 2024 and Ivar and Odin who were adopted in 2023 (by a trio of siblings, nonetheless!).

Sonny & Chunky
When Tanya and her family decided to adopt Sonny, a personality-plus beagle, at Mulligan’s Mutt Madness 2024, they found out he had a brother named Chunky who was too overweight to attend the event. But when the family went to pick up Sonny at KHS, they met Chunky and couldn’t leave him behind.

“Chunky has lost about eight pounds, which was much needed,” reports Tanya. “He is still as sweet as ever and has stolen all our hearts.” She adds that Sonny is the best dog they’ve ever had. “He is so mild-mannered, listens very well, and is the definition of an attention hound!”

Tanya says her “Beagle Boys” have a sweet way of showing their appreciation for joining the pack. “We feel like they still thank us every day, as they both will randomly come up to us and just put their heads on us to get some love. We feel like they were always meant to be with us, and they finally found their forever home.”

Odin & Ivar
Ivar and Odin are rough collie mixes who were adopted at the 2023 Mulligan’s Mutt Madness by a trio of siblings named Janna, Jared, and Jenneka. The pups joined a pack full of love and fluff with a few other dogs and several cats in the mix.

“Ivar is so happy now that he and Genevieve the kitten are besties,” says Janna. “Odin has a new love of sleeping on my pillow at night right above my head or snuggling as Jenneka’s little spoon.” Janna adds, “We are forever grateful for the Mutt Madness event at Equip!”
