Scott and Heather went to the TurfMutt Foundation’s Mulligan’s Mutt Madness at Equip Expo 2023 to “just look at the dogs” since one of their friends had already adopted a puppy at the event. “We were looking at Rocco, and he seemed like a really good, calm dog,” they report. “Something about him stuck in our eyes and drew us to him.”
After completing the adoption paperwork at the event, the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) took Rocco back to its facility for the night so the couple could wrap up things at Equip. The next day, they picked him up and started the drive back home to Ohio. “It went well. He slept most the way.”
They made puppy pitstops along the way, and took Rocco to a store to pick up some toys, a collar and training treats. “When we got home, he was so happy because he got to meet the rest of the family, including our kids and our other pets.” (The family has three cats and another dog.)
Rocco’s favorite things to do are sleep on his pillow and play with his toys. “He also enjoys going outside in the morning with our other dog to explore our big yard and play with our outdoor cat.”
The couple says it was a great experience adopting at Mulligan’s Mutt Madness. “We are glad that we got to adopt Rocco and are happy that we got to help out a good cause.”
